Our Story

My name is Amy Calhoun. I grew up in Southern California in a family of 4 kids.  My big sister Ginger taught me to ride and for that I am grateful. I used to get mad at her for making me put my heels down and roll my shoulders back all the time, but I am thankful she did. She taught me great work ethic and how to be a great rider. I rode Western on the Quarter Horse and Paint Horse circuit out West and participated in Congress and The World Shows. At the age of 10, we moved to Connecticut (culture shock) with my father’s job.  I quickly learned how to ride English Hunter Jumpers and continued to show AQHA back East until moving back to Texas. I LOVED jumping but LOVE running barrels and poles better. Haha!

My husband and I moved our family to Liberty Hill in 2012 and started Windy Hill.  I give lessons in English and Western, but my main focus has become Barrel Racing and Playday events. I have horses at all levels, from Playdays to Jackpots and Rodeos.  I am thankful to my husband who is a Chiropractor here in town because he keeps me aligned as this old girl get sore.  He also takes care of our horses while I work at Dell full time as a Fraud Manager.  Without his help and all of my barn families, I’m not sure I could do it all.

I  also offer horse training on mine and other people’s property as well as give relaxing trail rides.

I look forward to the opportunity to inspire my clients. Whether you are a new or seasoned rider I look forward to teaching the fundamentals of riding and horsemanship as well as advanced techniques.

I am thankful to God for blessing me with the skills to do it.
